Gravelbourg Selected for Aviva Charged For Change EV Charging Initiative

The Town of Gravelbourg is proud to announce its selection as a recipient of the Charged for Change grant, a national initiative by Aviva in partnership with Earth Day Canada. This funding will support the installation of two public Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations—an exciting step forward in the town’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure and economic development.
The Charged for Change program, backed by a $3-million commitment from Aviva Canada, aims to expand access to EV infrastructure in underserved communities across the country. Gravelbourg is among the latest communities to benefit from this investment, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build a more resilient future.
“I’m thrilled to share that Gravelbourg has secured funding through the Charged for Change program for two new EV charging stations, thanks to the efforts of our Economic Development Office,” said Mayor Forest. “This investment is a significant step forward for our community, putting us on the map as a stop for travellers moving through the province while providing a much-needed service for our residents.
Each station will be able to accommodate two vehicles at a time, ensuring greater accessibility for EV drivers. By embracing this infrastructure, we are not only supporting sustainable transportation but also opening the door to new opportunities for local businesses and tourism. Additionally, all revenue generated from these stations will be returned to the town’s coffers, ensuring that this investment continues to benefit our community.”
Valérie Mallamo, Executive Director of Earth Day Canada, emphasized the program’s national impact:“Globally, we are seeing the consequences of climate change and the need to address its effects is now. One of the many ways we can reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions is to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles. With the support of Aviva Canada through the Charged for Change program, we were able to make a difference by bringing charging opportunities in communities where they were lacking and help Canadians access infrastructure and take charge for a sustainable future.”
The EV chargers will be installed north of Soucy Park on 2nd Ave E, offering both residents and visitors reliable access to charging. This project reflects the town’s broader strategy to invest in infrastructure that supports environmental responsibility and future economic opportunities.
